Toyota expects a year similar to 2012 for production

Toyota Motor Corp expects that global production of Toyota and Lexus vehicles will reach 8.7 million in 2013, almost in line with the 8.74 million forecasted for 2012, the Japanese company informed last Wednesday.

Global sales of Toyota and Lexus vehicles are expected to grow 2.5% next year, to 8.9 million units.

Toyota Group is planning to produce 9.94 million cars and sell 9.91 million vehicles in 2013. Extended forecasts for the whole Group include Daihatsu Motor Co and Hino Motors Ltd.

For 2012, Toyota expects total sales by the Group will grow 26%, to 9.92 million, due to a rebound from the impact suffered due to 2011 Japan earthquake and Thailand floods.

Toyota estimated a 22% increase in global vehicles sales in 2012, to 9.7 million.
