Mexico’s economic activity will keep a healthy growth pace in the first months of 2013, according to the Mexican Institute of Financial Officers, Instituto Mexicano de Ejecutivos de Finanzas (IMEF).

IMEF’s season-adjusted Manufacturing Indicator posted 0.9 points increase in January over the previous month, reaching 53.3 points.

The Indicator goes from zero to one hundred points, where 50 points represent the threshold between expansion (over 50) and contraction (under 50) of economic activity, without providing specific information on the size of expected changes.

“The increase in IMEF’s Manufacturing Indicator in January, a close reflect of manufactures exporting sector, suggests that this sector could show better dynamism when compared to the moderation observed in mid 2012”, the monthly report states.

Manufactures exported from Mexico in 2012 accounted for 81.4% of total sales of goods and posted 8.4% year-to-year increase, to reach US$301.993 billion.
