North America will receive around US$120 billion from investments relocated by companies that migrated from this region to China and that will return between 2013 and 2020, according to estimates by the Center for Development Research, Centro de Investigacion para el Desarrollo (CIDAC).

The estimates arise from a study to be published within a few days by CIDAC, a research center led by Luis Rubio.

“Some analysis show that 25% of such amount could arrive to Mexico. We are going after more, but this has to bee seen as an opportunity for North America”, Eduardo Solis, Chairman of the Mexican Association of Automotive Industry, Asociacion Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA), said in his speech during ProMexico Global Forum.

According to the External Manufacturing Costs Index 2013, Mexico stood out in the last three years as the favorite destination for the establishment of manufacturing centers and for supplying several industries in the US market.
