The automotive industry is already working with the federal government to provide the sector with greater value added, by creating a fund focused on innovation and development projects, which includes fiscal incentives not only for manufacturing, but for human capital as well, in order to exceed three million automobiles annual production.

This was informed by Eduardo Solis, Chairman of the Mexican Association of Automotive Industry, Asociacion Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA), who further said that in order to provide more competitiveness to the Mexican automotive sector, more research, technology development and innovation are required.

“The industry should climb the chain of value. Draft a program that includes design engineering, research and development. Mexico has a huge opportunity, but we must turn to effective incentives, such as fiscal incentives”, Solis said.

The industry is negotiating with the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of the Treasury the creation of a fund to promote investment specifically aimed to automotive industry, in a program named Proauto.
