Ten companies to invest in Mexico's electricity sector

Electricity demand in Mexico will double by the next decade, and the government will bid for several generation and transmission projects for US$62.27 billion during 2015 and 2029, and companies such as Abengoa, Energy Transfer, Mastec, ACS, Ethuss Group, Siemens and Isolux Corsan are some of the possible winners.

Meanwhile, Grupo Diavaz, Grupo Carso and IEnova took the biddings for the construction of new pipelines, with which they will carry out the transportation of gas to the CFE and Pemex.

These 10 companies have won CFE and Pemex’ bids, valued at US$4.4 million, 77.7% of the total capital injection in the country for the renewal of plants, distribution and pipeline construction.

The Spanish firm Abengoa is the one with the most important contract with CFE, for the construction of the Combined Cycle Central North III, valued at US$1.5 billion.
