Aeolian energy has great potential in Mexico, which may be visualized as an important producer of Aeolian infrastructure during the current Administration.

The above was assured by the Chairman of the Mexican Aeolian Energy Association, Asociacion Mexicana de Energia Eolica (AMDEE), Leopoldo Rodriguez Olive, upon announcing the coming Mexico Wind Power Encounter, to be held next January 30th and 31st.

In a press conference, he assured that Aeolian power is a reality in Mexico nowadays, as proved by growth to 1,400 megawatts (MW) upon closing 2012, equal to all the energy required by a city like Puebla.

He further pointed-out the fact that wind power generated in Mexico represents 2% of the installed capacity throughout the country and that current growth leads to forecast 12,000 MW by 2020.

He also said that if the growth experienced by Aeolian industry in Mexico remains steady, in coming years Mexico could become attractive for infrastructure manufacturing.
