Mexico displaces Japan in car sales in the USA

Last January, Mexico was the main automobiles supplier in the United States, displacing Japan, by selling 128,961 vehicles there, against the 111,293 exported by Japan; Mexico therefore accounts for 12.4% of total light vehicles sales in the USA.

Automotive industry keeps its accelerated pace and started 2013 with growth reaching almost 20% in production and 14.2% in exports, to hit a new record.

The Association of Automotive Industry, Asociacion Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA), reported that 242,855 light vehicles were sold last January, 40,154 more than in 2012; while 178,562 units were exported, adding 22,000.
