Mexico and China agreed to create a top-level work group to promote investment between both countries.

Prior to the start of G20 Leaders Summit, President Enrique Peña Nieto and the President of China Xi Jinping met for the third time in less than six months.

The presidents witnessed the signature of the Memo of Understanding between China’s National Development and Reform Commission and the Mexican Ministry of the Treasury on Investments Promotion.

The agreement includes the creation of a top-level work group on investment matters, which will be chaired by the heads of both agencies.

President Peña Nieto seized the opportunity to reiterate to his Chinese counterpart the advantages offered by the Mexican market to Chinese investment in several sectors.

Both presidents spoke about the close work that will keep on developing to achieve more balanced trade exchanges, foster larger exports of Mexican products to China and a significant increase of investment flows from China to Mexico.
