Manufacturing employment grows 2.2%

The labor force in manufacturing industry grew 2.2% in January over even month the previous year, according to the Mexican Statistics Agency, Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI).

The labor force in manufacturing industry grew 2.2% in January over even month the previous year, according to the Mexican Statistics Agency, Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI).

Such growth arose from an increase in the number of blue-collars, which reached 2.6%, while the white-collars posted 0.5% growth in such period.

Actual mean compensations paid also went up 2.8% in the first month of the year, since the increase on hourly wages was 4.9%, while salaries paid to white-collars grew 1.1% and social benefits posted 2.4% increase.

The number of hours worked in manufacturing industry went up 2.8% in January, as a consequence of a 3.5% increase by blue-collars and 0.7% by white-collars.
