Luis Zarate, President of the Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry, Camara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construccion (CMIC), considers that the eventual Energy Reform can make public and private investment in infrastructure during this Administration reach MXP$40 trillion, twice as much as the investment estimated to date.

“Conditions to foster infrastructure sector are there. A mechanism to advance must be found, for example in exploration, oil refinement or transportation, but we must wait and see the model developed for our country”, he said in a press conference.

In the last few weeks the Federal Government has said that this issue has priority for the current Administration, and that this has been well received by the Private Sector in Mexico. Therefore, Mr. Zarate will meet next week with Pemex top officers, to discuss the locks limiting foreign investment that should be opened to potentiate the country’s development while preserving its sovereignty.
